FROM NOVEMBER 4TH TO NOVEMBER 22ND
OPENING NOVEMBER 6TH, 2009 FROM 7-10PM

LE Gallery is pleased to welcome two new gallery artists, Kal Mansur and Tom Ngo. Both artists share a dedication to precision and calculation in their work that results in an exacting exploration of their subject matter.

Mansur’s polished and refined work explores the power of the elements of design; line, shape, and colour, and their ability to create arresting compositions and sculptures. Responding to modern and contemporary architecture and design movements, Mansur’s work employs painting, etching, drawing and a number of construction methods in plastics and acrylic to explore methodologies from a creative and artistic angle, reveling in the power of light and colour to alter and effect his works. Mansur immigrated to Canada in 1975. He received a B.F.A from the University of Texas in 1990 and moved to New York city in 1994. His work has been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions throughout North America and has been collected by the Rockefeller Foundation, Sloan-Kettering Cancer Memorial Centre and Alliance Capital.

After receiving his Masters of Architecture at Carleton University Tom Ngo stumbled upon a gouache paint set in a neighbour’s trash bin. By merging the medium with technical drafting Tom Ngo embarks on an exploration into the architectural absurd. Architectural absurdity playfully transgresses within the rules of building formation to create valid alternative assemblages while scrutinizing regulation. Born in Hong Kong and currently based in Toronto Ngo has explored projects at Lennnox Contemporary and with Commute Home.
